"Where the Mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action;
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake."

Happy New Year

Clear Stream wishes all the readers a HAPPY NEW (and more globalizing) NEW YEAR. May the tsunami of globalization sweep away the worldwide religious & political differences!

So what do I wish for in the New Year? Here are a modest TWO.

  1. Globalization has a fearful side. This is a blessing in disguise. Blessing, because it makes people drop their differences and join together against a common problem. E,g, India and Pakistan takes a joint action in WTO over textile and farm trade - a small step but a step all the same. This was quite unthinkable ten years ago. So my first hope is that in any one regional conflict in the world, the two players join hands against a common problem of globalization and work together in addressing it. Which conflict will win this prize?
  2. The next one is a bit far fetched! I wish that there would be no more new wars declared in the New Year. We know that war is the health of the state and also the greatest anti-globalization force. War, by its very definition, pits one party against another which clearly goes against globalization.

Wishing you all again a prosperous, happy and peaceful New Year.
